Acknowledgement of Country
In the Spirit of Reconciliation, the St. Pius X school community recognises the ongoing role of the traditional custodians of this land, the Tubba-Gah peoples of the Wiradjuri nation. It is on their ancestral lands that we continue our learning journey together.
We extend that respect to Elders, past, present and emerging. Furthermore, all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples within our school community. Acknowledging their presence and spiritual connection to Country.
In the light of faith, we work towards a more accepting and humble school environment for all.

Welcome back to Term Two, the calendar is already filling up. There are two events I would very much encourage you to attend are taking place next week; the Dr Justin Coulson on Monday night and our School Trivia Night on Friday night.

SPX Parents and Friends Trivia Night
A reminder to lock in the 9th May for our school trivia night. As a school and community, we really would like to rebuild on previous success of past trivia nights and use this as a night to connect with SPX community members.

Justin Coulson
The Council of Catholic School Parents NSW/ACT (CCSP) is excited to celebrate its 30th anniversary, marking three decades of support for Catholic school communities in NSW and ACT.
As part of this milestone, CCSP is taking renowned presenter Dr. Justin Coulson on a tour to visit rural and remote locations to engage with parents and carers. St Johns College is proud to be one of the hosting schools for this FREE special event, which will be held on Monday, 5th May 2025.
To register for the FREE event, guests must use the registration link provided in the flyer via 123tix. Please note that the event is not listed as a public event on 123tix, so this link is essential for registration.
ANZAC Day March
A massive thank you to the students, staff and parents for their involvement in the ANZAC Day march last week, we had 53 students march and just as many supporting along the way. Makes me very proud of our little school each and every year.
Easter Egg Raffle
The Easter Raffle took place on the last day of term and we can’t thank you enough for your generosity. We had the usual huge amount of eggs and there were just under $2000 worth of tickets sold, this DOUBLED last year's sales! Thank you.
Kindergarten 2026 Enrolments
Enrolments for Kindergarten 2026 should have been received by the end of last Term. If you have a child commencing Kindy in 2026, I ask that you download a copy of the enrolment form from the SPX website (or contact the office) and drop it off to the school office this week. Our office is more than happy to photocopy any original reports or certificates. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Annual School Improvement Surveys
I would like to inform you that our school will be asking all parents, students and staff to complete the Annual School Improvement Survey. The Surveys will be distributed to all staff, parents and Year 5-12 students on Thursday 8th May (Wk 2, Term2).
These surveys enable all members of the school community to have a voice. We do take note of all comments written as they are valuable insights from key stakeholders of the school. The comments and data provides information about how well the school is operating, highlighting areas of strengths and those that may need revision. Overall, the data collected from the surveys provide highly valuable information that directs the school's future planning for continual improvement.

Pick Up
A reminder to continue adhering to the pick up rules to ensure the safety of our children and the smooth
flow of traffic. Please do not pull out of the pick up line, you must pull out in order to help prevent incidents.
Anzac Day March
Thank you to all the children who were able to represent St Pius X at the ANZAC Day remembrance march. It is a proud moment to see our students marching to show respect to those who have served our country and a wonderful connection for the children to make with what has been sacrificed for them.

Remembering Pope Francis
Loving Father,
We pause to remember with sorrow and gratitude your servant Pope Francis, who returned to You after a life poured out in love and service.
Even in his final days, he brought hope to the world, blessing us on Easter Sunday, speaking words of peace, freedom, and compassion.
We thank You for his courage, humility, and tireless work for justice, unity and care for the poor. May his example guide our hearts and may his spirit of mercy live on in our words and actions.
Welcome him into the light of Your presence, and comfort Your Church as we journey forward in faith.

Project Compassion Boxes
Just a final call out for any Project Compassion boxes that you may still have at home. We need to finalise the amount to donate to Caritas.

Sports News
Winter PSSA Sport
PSSA sport for Term Two starts Friday week (Week Two) and will conclude on Friday Week Nine.
We will be leaving school at 11 a.m and returning at around 1.00 p.m. PSSA sport involves Years Four, Five and Six.
Students will need hat, drink bottle, protective equipment (Union and soccer players) and a good sporting attitude.
We have teams represented in:
- Senior Girls League tag – Riverbank – Miss Isbester
- Junior Girls Soccer - Jubilee - Mrs Garling
- Junior Boys Soccer – Lady Cutler – Mr Jones and Miss Atkins
- Senior Boys Rugby Union - Victoria Park - Mr Cant
- Senior Girls Soccer - Jubilee - Mrs Rose
- Senior Boys Soccer - Lady Cutler - Mrs Carr
Soccer players must use shin pads; Joggers only. If anyone has extra shin pads it would be wonderful if you could bring those to school for others to borrow.
Rugby union players must have a mouthguard and headgear for rugby, I do have some headgear to loan out for those that do not have any. If anyone has any spare we would be very appreciative if we could borrow it.
In the past few years St. Pius X has excelled in all areas of PSSA – one of the main areas is our sportsmanship. We would like this trend to continue so all children attending PSSA should remember they are representing St. Pius X and should uphold the school rules at all times.
Any misconduct will result in the student/s being suspended or banned from PSSA.
Diocesan Cross Country
Good luck to the 32 runners taking part in Cross Country in Coolah next Tuesday (6th May). If you have yet to send the note in and / or register online could you please do this as soon as possible, CSNSW registrations will close on the 29th April.
Remember FULL SPORTS UNIFORM (includes school hat). Thank you parents, we appreciate your support in this area.
Students will need to bring on the day: tracksuit, drink bottle, sunscreen, recess and lunch (canteen will be operating on the day). If parents would like to take something to sit on it is advised as we will be situated on an oval with no seating.
Registrations begin at 10.00am, walking the course starts at 10.45am and events will commence at 11.45am.
Mrs Hart and Miss Penman will be accompanying our students.
POLDING Sports Trials
We wish all the very best of luck to Nate Howard and Xanthie Klaare who this week travel to Bathurst to represent the Diocese of Bathurst at the Polding Winter Sports Trials. Xanthie will be trialling for the football (soccer) team and Nate for the 11 Years Rugby League team.

Netball Gala Day
Next Monday, we have our Year Five and Six girls attending the annual Netball Cup Gala Day here in Dubbo. Notes will go home this week, please get them back in before Friday.
Library News
Library Classes commence as normal this week:
Wednesdays: Kinder, Year 1, Year 2, Year 4 and Year 5
Thursdays: Year 3 and Year 6
Infants children must have a Library Bag to borrow books. Students may borrow 2 books each week. We have lots of new Fiction and Nonfiction titles available so please encourage your child to borrow and develop a love of reading.
The Library is also open at lunchtimes on Wednesday and Thursday for reading or quiet play.

Student Wellbeing
At St Pius, our focus values are ‘KIND, CONNECT, RESPECT’. We often refer to these in class and as a whole school. For the next fortnight we have these well-deserving students nominated by staff for consistently displaying these values:

Some students in our school will be participating in a Construction Club this term. I am seeking donations of small to medium cardboard boxes if possible please. They can be delivered to the Library or Front Office.
